The Process

  • 1- Inspect the Oud Artisans

Before we find a product, we always make sure that we inspect the Oud Artisans. We do this to try and make sure that the farming and distillation process matches the very select criteria that we have. We want to make sure that it can meet the required documentation at all times and we also want to make sure that the product we provide is of a consistent high quality as well so you can count on us for just about anything you need and without any problems or difficulties. So now you know about the initial checks we make for our agarwood, it’s time to move on to the second step in our process.

  • 2- Marketing benchmark

When we progress to step two, we will make sure that the products meet the marketing benchmark we have in place. This ensures that we have the right products and for the right target customers as well as making sure that our own agarwood is consistent in surpassing that of our competitors. This is one of the many reasons why our customers know they can trust in us time and time again for all of their needs and requirements.

  • 3- Analysis to confirm the conformity

Our third step is then to take a sample from every single batch of Agarwood we have. After this has been done, we will then analyse it to try and make sure that it is of ample purity. After the analysis has been done, our team will then do a second analysis to confirm the conformity before we advertise it online. So as you can see, we really do take great pride in everything we do and we always want to make sure that our customers get the best possible experience when they come to our team. It doesn’t matter whether you need someone who you know you can trust to deliver your agarwood or whether you just need someone who knows what they are talking about to assist you with the day to day process we have when it comes to the initial selection, because we can do it all and more and at a price you know you can afford.

Ancient History

If you were to smell the odour of Agarwood then you would find that it is very pleasing but very complex at the same time. You may find that it has a very oriental and woody smell and you may also find that it has a very soft yet fruity note as well, so this is another very interesting concept. Of course, it is important to understand that when this is burned as incense, it has a very sweet and even a balsamic note and you may even smell scents of musk and vanilla. This is great because it adds to the religious significance that agarwood has to offer and you would be surprised at how great it is in general. So how did agarwood start being used originally? In the third century, in Ancient China, the Nan Zhou Yi Wu Zhi, or as it translates to, the Strange Things from the South was written by Wa Zhen and this mentioned agarwood in what was then the Rinan community. They wrote about how people used to collect it in the mountains, however showed no implication of how it was used.

During the 6th century in Japan, there were a couple of recordings in the Nihon Shoki, or the Chronicles of Japan. This is the second oldest book in Japanese history and this also references to a large fragrant piece of wood. It was then referred to as being agarwood from Pursat, Cambodia. The same wood remains in Japan but it is rarely displayed to try and preserve its history. Of course, it is also important to note that agarwood was once used as a medicinal product as well and it was recorded in the Sahih Muslim. This dates back all the way to the 8th century and it can be found in the Ayurvedic medicinal text as well.

This started in 1580 after a man called NguyễnHoàng started to take control over modern Vietnam and he started to trade with other countries. At this time, agarwood was available in three different varieties. This included Calambac, TrầmHương and agarwood itself. So as you can see, agarwood certainly has a lot of history. This is especially the case when you look at how far it goes back in terms of history and how long it has been around for.

Agarwood is also known for being one of the most expensive woods in the world. There are so many names for this wood and the main reason why it is so popular is because it is produced by the trees in Aquilaria. Of course, it is also known as oudh, eaglewood and even gaharu. It has been used to create very high quality incense sticks for centuries now and on top of all this, it is made to the finest possible standard as well. The Chinese say that it has a smell that is deep but very balanced and this is one of the many reasons why it is so very popular with all those who purchase it. Agarwood also dates back to the medieval times and at this point in its history, it was prescribed for those experienced colds or even digestion problems. Agarwood is also a resinous heartwood that occurs in trees and it is actually a genus from the Thymelaeceae family.
